SENATOR CHUCK HAGEL TO SPEAK AT ALMA MATER BROWN COLLEGE COMMENCEMENT AND RECEIVE DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD

MINNEAPOLIS (March 30, 2010) – Brown College has announced former Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE), a Brown College alum, will be the keynote speaker at the school’s April 17 commencement, sharing memories of his time as a Brown student and offering advice on how best to use education to pursue success. During the commencement, Sen. Hagel will also be honored with the Brown College Distinguished Alumni Award.

In advance of the commencement during a private event, Sen. Hagel will also discuss his recently published book, America: Our Next Chapter, a straightforward examination of the current state of our nation that provides substantial proposals for the challenges of the 21st century. He will also be signing copies for his guests. In attendance will be the President and members of the Brown College Alumni Association, previous Alumni Award recipients, the Chair of the Brown College Board of Trustees, distinguished guests, faculty, staff, students and media.

About Sen. Chuck Hagel
Sen. Chuck Hagel served two terms in the United States Senate (1997-2009) representing the state of Nebraska. Sen. Hagel was a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; and Intelligence Committees.
