About Brown College Community
Although they are separated by the Mississippi River, Minneapolis and Saint Paul are virtually one city. Mendota Heights is a pleasant suburban, semi-industrial area a few minutes south of the Twin Cities and just east of the International airport. It is only a 20-minute drive to rolling farmland, river bluffs or dense woods from our campus. Brown’s Brooklyn Center Campus is conveniently located near the western and northern Twin Cities suburbs.
A great place to go to school!
Money magazine named the Twin Cities the "Best Place to Live in the Midwest" in their June 1998 issue. A strong economy, low unemployment rates and thriving cultural venues made Minneapolis and St. Paul an easy choice for this prestigious distinction.
- Lakes
Minnesota is known as the "Land of 10,000 Lakes." Minneapolis literally means "City of Lakes" in the native Sioux language. Our name alone suggests the beauty of the state in which we live. The twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul boast 25 lakes just within city limits!
- The Arts
The Twin Cities is second only to New York in per capita attendance at theater and cultural events. Minneapolis has more than 30 theaters. We are also home to two renowned art museums, the Minneapolis Institute of Art and Walker Art Center, and the internationally acclaimed Minnesota Orchestra.
- Sports and Recreation
The Twin Cities have 170 parks and over 50 miles of bicycling and rollerblading trails. Our students can enjoy all types of sports and recreation in this idyllic environment. Our professional teams are the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves and an NHL hockey team, the Minnesota Wild.
