Brown College Instructor Wins Minnesota Career College Faculty Member of the Year Award

Today, radio is much more sophisticated. Technology has transformed radio broadcasting again and again. There are many types of radio stations now, all with different types of signals and purposes and legal statuses.

At the 2013 Minnesota Career College Association (MCCA) Annual Conference, Brown College – Mendota Heights instructor Jacob Bonnerup was presented with the Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year award. A dedicated employee of ten years, Jake is one of Brown’s most respected faculty members by both students and colleagues, his classes are widely discussed among students, and almost universally well received. What really sets Jake apart, however, is that he is truly a master facilitator as much as he is an instructor; he is extremely gifted when it comes to creating an atmosphere that optimizes student learning. In his courses, students feel comfortable sharing their own personal experiences as well as learn from hearing what others have to say. He is also skilled when it comes to making improvements to his curriculum and has championed academic assessment on campus.

The conference was attended by over 300 statewide educators, staff, and administrators. MCCA has been the voice of career-focused education in Minnesota since 1958, representing private institutions of higher learning delivering career specific education accredited by agencies recognized by the United States Department of Education. MCCA represents 38 campuses and 16 college systems across the state of Minnesota.
