Bachelor of Science in Business Management Program

The Brown College Bachelor of Science in Business Management emphasizes students' understanding of general business management theory and practice. The curriculum also examines finance, marketing, organizational, operational and human resource management. The goal of the program is to prepare students with the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue business opportunities in a diverse global economy.

Brown's BS in Business Management is designed to challenge candidates to develop skills and knowledge in problem solving, decision making, management, professionalism and communication. Graduates will be expected to:

  • Learn effective interpersonal communication within the business environment by employing various communication modes.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify and strategically solve business problems and make decisions within a complex global business environment.
  • Demonstrate and apply Fayol’s five functions of management: leading, planning, organizing, directing and controlling.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and efficiently in teams.
  • Demonstrate and exhibit knowledge of professionalism by promoting ethical behavior and standards, demonstrating appropriate time management, advocating quality of service and promoting honesty and integrity in business transactions. In order to be effective managers in a global society, they must be able to show respect for and promote diversity in the workplace.

Courses in Brown's Bachelor of Science in Business Management focus on helping students develop knowledge and skills necessary to pursue entry-level management positions in a wide range of business environments. Classes are instructed by experienced business professionals.

  • In Strategic Planning, students have the opportunity to examine the strategic planning process and the role it plays in business planning, operation and growth.
  • In International Marketing, coursework focuses on the marketing function within an organization from a global perspective. Topics include planning and decision-making from the organization’s international marketing issues involving product development, price, distribution and promotion.
  • In Business Ethics, students examine the moral issues faced by professionals in business and industry in the performance of their jobs, including a discussion of the way ethics approaches questions regarding the morality of human actions and character.
